End-of-semester Exams + How I Prepare the Exams

The end-of-semester exams are quickly approaching. The tense days started.

        The first day of our exams was interest math and chemistry. The second day we had mandatory math and biology, the third day was physics and Mandarin, the fourth day was compulsory history and Christian Religious Education and Ethics, and the last day was Pkn and PKWU.

            And here I am, having passed the first exam and demonstrating an interest in mathematics and chemistry. Interest math is done from 7.45–9.15. Then we take a break for an hour. I had time to drink milk to fill my stomach so as not to be too hungry later. Then continue the chemistry exam from 10.15–12.15. After all was done, we could go home. I am grateful to be able to finish the exam well and smoothly, even though, when the time is about to run out, I usually get nervous at first. 

Then, how do I prepare for my final semester exam?

            The day before the exam, last Sunday, I prepared for the exam with tutoring. There are math lessons and chemistry lessons, with different teachers. For math, I had an offline tutor with my friends, Cedric and Daphne. Then, for chemistry, I had online tutoring because of differences in places and situations that made it impossible for offline tutoring with the teacher.

            On Sunday, I had math tutoring from 10 to around 12. Shortly after finishing, my mom called to ask what I wanted to eat later, and because I was also confused, we decided to go out together and look for food. Incidentally, I was craving something spicy, and in the end we ended up buying "mie cabe super" at Pak Wondo, but we didn't eat there, we took the food home. But while we were waiting for the food to be finished, my chemistry tutor chatted. I... forgot that the lesson was at 2 😭. In the end, I postponed the lesson to 2.30, so I could go home and eat for a while, because, to be honest, I was really hungry. Luckily, the food was ready, and we could go straight home.

            When I got home, I quickly ate and got ready to turn on the computer. I was given a question, and I worked on it, until it was finished, then we discussed it together. My chemistry lessons also lasted 2 hours, so I finished at half past 5. 

            After finishing, I took a short break and started practicing again, the math and chemistry exercises from school, from tutoring, and also reading my notes. I study until 10 o'clock, and then I usually clean up before going to bed, brush my teeth, wash my face, wash my hands, and wash my feet. Then I continued studying until 11 o'clock. I was actually really nervous about the exam. But yeah, I'm grateful because I can do math and chemistry exams well. Hopefully, my classmates and I will be able to complete our final semester exams well till the last day.

A Day In My School Life (Thursday Ver.)

Another day, another activity—let's go!

        So today, as usual, every Thursday morning, my school has worship together for grades 10, 11, and 12. However, today I woke up late, so it was a little tight to get to school, and after I arrived, I went straight up to the hall, and there happened to be my friend too, so we went up together. The worship went smoothly, and well, and we finished at 8.15 a.m. But at the end of the worship, there was a little announcement that today was the last service, because next week we will have our final exams and will be on semester break. It doesn't feel like one semester has passed, time flies so fast😔.

        After finishing the service, we continued with PE lessons. And this is the third meeting since the first time we were given project assignments for our test scores. We are free to make the project in any form, it can be PowerPoint slides, a video, or a poster. However, my team, which consists of Catrina, Daphne Isabelle, and myself, chooses to make videos. Balance motion and rolling gymnastics are the materials we've chosen. So yesterday, we've been looking at what movements we will do and also the steps, so today we can immediately make the video!

        Before we started, we looked for a mat first. Actually, at first, we planned to use the big puzzle (I think it is actually a mat) in the new hall, but we thought it would hurt if we wanted to roll forward using it, so we ended up using the green mat in the old hall and brought it to class because we recorded the video in class.

        Previously, we also divided the tasks, between Isabelle and me. Daphne and Catrina as movement demonstrators. However, there was a slight change so that Isabelle and I also became movement demonstrators. So before starting the movement, we did a warm-up first, from the head, hands, then feet. When finished, we will move on to the movements that we have provided. There are airplane styles, arm stands, kayaking, and forward rolls. Actually, we were planning to do a back roll, but since no one could do it, we deleted that move.

        We either have the correct attitude or the incorrect attitude. We also put a solution to this incorrect attitude, for example, in the arm stand, the legs are not straight, so in the video there are also ways to overcome them, for example, by asking a friend for help. So, our division was, Catrina did the right kayaking, while I did the wrong move. Daphne made the right forward roll, and Catrina made the wrong move. Daphne took the right airplane, and Isabelle took the wrong one. And lastly, the right candle position is done by Catrina, and the wrong one is done by Daphne.

        Actually, we're just running smoothly. But one problem is—— we laugh a lot. There's just something funny about it that makes us laugh, so it's going to take a while hehe. But everything we needed to record was 90% done, just barely, with PJOK class hours running out.

        And the hour after PJOK class finished was break time, so we ate first, then changed into plaid clothes. Thursday's uniform. So after the break (around 10.50), we continued our art and culture (SBK) lessons. The SBK lesson is also today's presentation for our final semester grades. So, a few weeks ago, we were given the task of drawing, and Mrs. Onny (who is our SBK teacher) told us to take pictures and choose objects that we would use as references and draw them, with the condition that the objects must be in school. We will choose the object ourselves, and we will also present the results. And here is the photo I chose.

        I'm quite satisfied with the drawing, even though at first, I almost gave up on the coloring. I got the last turn because I was the 22nd person in the absence, and I was the one to end the presentation. The pictures and presentations from my classmates are really cool too! Today is soo fun! 

        After completing SBK lessons. We continued with Civics lessons, but because Civics didn't do anything, so I went to the library for the chemistry competition distribution, and we were guided by Mrs. Kevin. Yes, I had dispensation since the morning, but I went in first because there were several things to do for the test scores. After we finish our civics lessons, we will move on to mathematics. I was able to return to class to take part in math lessons, but because today was just doing the questions (meaning there was no explanation of the material), I took a photo of the practice questions and returned to the library. I'll do the practice questions after school and later, as preparation for the math test.

        When the clock shows 15.00 p.m. Me and my other friends who took part in the chemistry competition stayed at school and had guidance until 16.30 PM. However, because the library was about to close, we moved to class 12 MIPA 1. Our competition was held on Saturday, which means —— 2 more days… Wish me luck, y'all. Badminton & Safehouse

Extracurricular and to last-minute plans to visit the safehouse 

        Since I was in 12th grade, extracurricular activities have started to become active again. In my school, there are extracurricular music, sports, and dance. I decided to take sports extracurriculars, which is badminton with my friends. Actually the reason I chose the badminton is because— I rarely exercise hehe. So, if I participate in an extracurricular sport, I will definitely do sports at least once a week. And also, from available sports extracurriculars, such as basketball, karate, and table tennis, I can do badminton the best, that's why I chose this extracurricular, and the coach of this extracurricular is Mr. Alfon, who is also our PE teacher.

            Because semester 1 will soon be over, extracurricular badminton is taking grades. After school, my friends and I went up to the hall to take badminton scores. I got the second turn, and my partner was Monica. Take our scores according to the pattern that Mr. Alfon has given us. We served lobs, dropshots, and straight lobs. Luckily, Monica and I were able to finish taking this grade well so we could finish quickly too. However, because Monica had already been picked up, she went home first, and I went down to the 3rd floor. As it turned out, there were still Victoria and Jenice, as well as Catrina who were giving guidance.

            So we talked for a bit and suddenly, Jenice asked me to come to the Safehouse. I jokingly answered yes, even though I still don't know if I can do it or not. And it turns out that they are serious about go to the safehouse🤣. So first I got permission from mom, and it turned out that I was allowed. Incidentally, my brother's store is near the safehouse so I can go home together with my brother. So there must be someone to take you home, you know.

            In the end we went together by grab and when we got there, I ordered a chocolate croissant (I'm really sorry I forgot the name, but I'll put the photo below) and croissant pudding. Catrina also ordered croissant pudding. Meanwhile, Jenice and Victoria ordered mixed fruit danishes.

            And the first bread I tried was the chocolate croissant, overall it was delicious! I really like it, the portion is also big and makes me full. But because of the large portion, the croissant pudding ended up being wrapped because I was already full hehe. After we finished eating, we talked about various things while sitting there.

            But it's incomplete if you don't drink, right? Well, I've been wanting to try coldbrew coffee for a long time, I wondering how it tastes (I don't know since when I became a coffee fan). So I ordered a coldbrew latte. And when it came out, I stirred it and tried it, hmm it tasted like regular coffee. But wait, I stirred again and when I tried again, I just felt…. It turns out bitter. So in the end I asked for more liquid sugar so I could enjoy my coffee properly.

            The time is already 5.30 p.m. I was chatted by my brother to go home because his store had already closed. And because my brother had arrived in front of the safe house, I said goodbye to my friends. Today was a blast, from extracurricular activities to last-minute plans to visit the safehouse. I'm grateful to have a good day one more time.

    

Pinocchio Drama

It was a long long time ago since the last time I got a drama assignment in a team. Last time was the Civics assignment with the theme of court, and yesterday we presented a story about Dimas Kanjeng. And now we got a new drama assignment, which is an English drama assignment.

        We were divided into several teams, and I grouped with Clement, Raymond and Ronaldo. Initially, we were very confused about what films we could use as inspiration. We thought about Coco's film, but it seemed too difficult because there were changes in nature. Finally, during the lesson, we scrolled google for possible movies, and in the end, we chose Pinocchio, because the number of characters included also allowed us to roleplay as four of us.

            But we have another thing that we have to thought, even though we've gotten inspiration from Pinocchio, of course, we can't just copy and paste it. So we thought about what storyline is suitable and we can use it. This took several meetings and we used to meet to discuss it further. And tadaaa, finally we can finish our story script! In the early part, until Pinocchio went to school, we still used it, and in the scene after, we changed it. But if I say it here it will be a spoiler! So I'll keep it a secret for now 🤫.

       After finishing the script, we started recording. Our first recording was a few ago, during English class. Now there is a third problem, namely when the video starts, there are people who laugh. Including me😅. During my scene with Raymond, we both laughed so hard that we couldn't continue. We have just said 2 words, but we’re already laughing. Finally, the English lesson was over and that meant we also finished our drama scene. Fortunately, we have recorded quite a lot of scenes, at least there is progress. Next week, we continue our drama. The difference is that today we laughed a little and we were able to shoot fast yay! Even if there's a bit of annoyance. When we recorded it well, there was a scream from the field, so we repeated it, but it was okay.

            However, since it was Wednesday and there was a night market, we finished our group work at 4.30 PM. The drama will continue on Thursdays and Fridays, and yes— our drama recording is done yayyyy! Overall it was soooo fun, hopefully, the results will be good too.

Moon Light Youth Team

At my monastery, there is a dance team called Yue Guang, also known as Moon Light Youth Team.

        I have known this dance team for a long time, and I was also invited by a friend of mine who joined yue guang even before the pandemic. However, I felt that the training schedule was quite full. At that time, I was also afraid that I would not be able to manage my own time.

            2 months ago, on September 4, 2022, to be exact, Yue Guang started opening registration for new members. And at that time, I thought that I would only have one year left in Samarinda, after graduation, I would not be able to join this team anymore. So, there’s no harm in trying right? And here I am, now I am a member of Yue Guang's team. 

            Actually, there were many ups and downs in this team, at first there were quite a lot of members, around 40. But over time, many members resigned. But yeah, luckily, I'm still here with another members. 

            I practice every Sunday, usually for 2 hours or a maximum of 2 hours and a half. So, after finishing Sunday school, we stayed there and were given one hour of rest, as well as provided meals every week. One thing we must do before practice is we pray together first. Then, after we finished, we started to our practice site, and we did a warm-up.

            We had several warm-ups, one of which was running around the room 5 times. To be honest, the first time I ran, I was not strong and felt pain in my stomach. But a few weeks later I understood that I had to run slowly so that running 5 times wouldn't hurt my stomach. And after we warm up (30 minutes) we will start dancing practice. Usually, we are tested first whether we still remember the movements in the song or not, then we practice the movements together. It’s actually hard enough to learn a new choreography and need some times, but I believe that we can through this together.

            Then, when will we have a perform? Why are we practicing every week if we haven't performed yet? The answer is, every week we practice preparing for the movement. So, if one day there is an event, we can immediately display it without chasing time, just reviewing and strengthening the movement.

            Honestly, I'm happy to be in this team, because I really admired the previous Yue Guang era. In the future I hope that we can get closer to each other, we can train and perform well one day too. Yue Guang team let’s do this together! 💗

Friday Activities

Thank God It's Friday

        Because Monday to Thursday my schedule is full, Friday is my time to relax and unwind. Usually, after school, I have time with my friends, whether it's eating together, cooking together, visiting new places, or just visiting my friend's house and having quality time together. And today's schedule is cooking together at Victoria's house!         Before started cooking, we bought the ingredients first at the Farmers Market, SCP and also bought meatballs in front of Mandiri Bank, they said the meatballs were one of the most delicious. But unfortunately, I didn't participate in it because I had an appointment to continue recording English project (drama) with my group. Luckily, the recording of our drama has been completed today, yay! We finished around 2 and I went straight to Victoria's house escorted by my mom. Actually, it wasn't just me who hadn't come, but also Monica, Catrina, and Gippumy. But Catrina is still tutoring for tomorrow's math competition and finished at 5.30 PM, Gippumy has other things, and Monic is actually recording an English project too, but since she hasn't finished yet, I went to Victoria's house first.

        Well, for today's activites we ate ramen and made telur pentol. When I arrived, there were Victoria, Ivanna, Hyolee, and Jenice, and of course they had all eaten. Finally, I cooked spicy ramen for myself. Usually I use all the spicy seasoning from the package. But because I'm not in the mood for spicy food today, I only use half a packet of spicy seasoning. I eat while talking with my friends and after I finish eating, I wash the cutlery that I have used. After that, we went into the room while waiting for Monic to come to make telur pentol together. The first thing that I'm looking for is slime! Hehe. I haven't played slime in a long time and there are 3 kinds of slime Victoria's house: original, milky and jiggly slime. I like the original slime the most because I think the texture is the best.

        Not long after, around 3.30 p.m., Monic arrived. She immediately cooked ramen, while the others— I mean... Victoria and Ivanna made telur pentul. And the others were waiting for it, hehe. While waiting for the telur pentul to be ready, Jenice did a math quiz and a few of us helped to explain some of the sections. After a long wait, the moment has come! Telur pentol is ready, yayy. It tastes really good! Telur pentol that is made has quite a large portion, so we ate satisfactorily. Thanks to Victoria and Ivanna.

        Time goes by so fast. Hyolee was the first to go home because she had ministry practice at the church. Not long after, I was also called to go home. And with this, my activities with friends have been completed today. It was so much fun today. I'm so happy, and that's all from me for today. Bye bye (ᵔᵕᵔ)◜

Approaching Final Exams

 

The final exam is just around the corner. Many project tasks are as final exams, as well as skill value.

    A few days ago, my group consisting of Catrina, Isabelle, Daphne and Charlie planned to do a physics project task at Charlie's house on Thursday, 10 November 2022, which is today. We chose this day because we came home early because of the 10th graders were on a retreat so we could have a longer time to work on it.

        But things didn't go that easy, approaching school hours, it started to rain heavily. Since Charlie's house was quite far away, we changed the plan and ended up working at my house.

        After arriving, we immediately started to make the physics project that we chose. The project called hydraulic JCB from cardboard as our final skill value with references from youtube. Luckily, last Wednesday we have already started cutting cardboards and we have already bought and prepared our materials that we need so that at my house we can directly move on to the next stage.

        For about one hour we worked on this project, we take a short break, and we had time to order and eat some foods. Although there were a few problems at the beginning because we were still a bit confused about how and where we should start first, our work process was quite smooth and 50% finished already. However, because it was already 5:30 PM, we ended our activites for this day because it was already quite late. We plan to continue our group work on Saturday and work it through to completion. Hopefully the efforts we are doing can give the best result and we can achieve satisfactory grades!😉
